Isaac Pola Alonso

Deputy Minister of Industry and Just Transition

Doctorate in Mining Engineering, Master’s Degree in Business Management and Administration and Business Auditing.

Since August 2023, serves as Regional Deputy Minister of Industry and Just Transition, overseeing critical sectors such as industry, mining, energy and their associated infrastructures.

His extensive portfolio includes membership in the Environmental Affairs Commission of Asturias, the Urban Planning and Territorial Organization Commission, and the SEKUENS Regional Development Agency. He is also member of the board of directors of the Harbour Authorities of Avilés and Gijón, the Logistics and Industrial Activities Zone of Asturias (ZALIA), the Mixed Economy Company for the Land Management and Promotion (SOGEPSA), and the Asturian Company for Economic and Industrial Studies (SADEI).

With a career spanning over three decades, he has held various positions within the Government of the Principality of Asturias and its Regional Development Agency. His work has consistently focused on advancing industry, mining, energy, and their infrastructures. Notably, he has been instrumental in the drafting, development, and management of the Industrial Land Programs of the Principality of Asturias since 2001.

From 2017 to 2019, he served as the Counselor of Employment, Industry, and Tourism for the Government of the Principality of Asturias. His previous roles include General Director of Mining and Energy (2007-2011, 2012-2017), and Director of the Industrial Infrastructures Area at the Economic Development Institute of the Principality of Asturias (IDEPA) (2003-2007, 2020-2023). Additionally, he has been a Technical Advisor in the Areas of Business Projects, Incentives and Innovation, Infrastructures and Internationalization, and Industrial Infrastructures (1992-2003, 2011-2012, 2019-2020) at IDEPA.
